The willow tree was sacred to the goddess Prosperpina/Persephone, consort of Pluto/Hades and daughter of Ceres/Demeter.
Xanthos was the River God Scamander which flows outside of the legendary city of Troy.  After Achilles insulted him, he joined the battle on the side of the Trojans nearly killing Achilles, who was saved only by the intervention of Hera and Athena
The Yew Tree was sacred to the Great Goddess Hecate, a tripartite goddess and patroness of witches.
Zephyrus is the god of the West Wind, and heralds spring.  He is also the last illo in my ABC Godlings and Goddesses series.  Finished just in time for my self-imposed end of year deadline!
Now I just need to finish writing the character bios and finalize the book design and I'm ready to look into publishing options!

The goddess of Love...

Thanatos was the Greek god of death who escorted souls to the Realm of Hades.  He is where the West gets the image of the angel of death.

Uranus was a primordial sky god, the consort of Gaia and Father of the Titans as well as the goddess Venus.

Saturn wasn't just the Father of the Gods and consort of Rhea.  He was also known as Father Time.

Letter R is the Royal Mother of all the Godlings and Goddesses

A little something new that I am working on regarding the Goddesses of the Greek Pantheon, as I try to figure out how to paint in Photoshop.

Two for today.
Quirinus is the the name the gods bestowed upon Romulus, founder of the Roman Empire, when he was deified for his deeds.

With the Letter M I am now half way through the alphabet!  It's  TGIF kinda day!
Lupercus is the Roman name for the Greek god Pan, a satyr who was best mates with the ultimate party god, Bacchus.
Krotos is a bit of an obscure character in the Greek pantheon.  He was a satyr that hung out with the Muses as the ultimate fan boy and is credited for inventing applause.  For his devotion, he was transformed into the constellation Sagittarius.

This one took way too long to finish, particularly on my mac at home which seems ten times slower than my work pc.  But at least I can stay on target with the self-imposed deadlines...

He's a day late...hopefully I will have a chance to back up today and finish the Fates too.

This was a bit of a rush job today, but I wanted to finish one before I left for the Thanksgiving holiday and who better to celebrate than Mother Earth herself!
The Guardians boards reminded me that I never any Dragon Holiday Special boards.  And since I hear it is going to air on Fox on December 17th, I figured I should post a scene that never made the final cut but we all loved because of the village kids.  I was told they wanted to include the scene in the DVD extras but the kids who did the scratch track weren't SAG actors so for legal reasons it was left out.  This is the second sequence of the movie and it changed so many times, that editorial told me the board count was over 2000 drawings by the time I finished it.  It's a relatively short scene too!  That just goes to show how flexible a story artist has got to be, and to not be precious about the drawings!

I can finally post these boards I did for Guardians back in 2009.  I worked on the first version of this movie, before Jeff Lynch was removed as director.  I had a lot of fun in story meetings with Jeff, the Head of Story Chris Appelhans, and Ryan O'Loughlin for my first three months on the film as we brainstormed the mythology, themes, character and story arcs.  It was a real learning experience and super creative.  I left the project after six months to go work on the Dragon Holiday Special: "The Gift of the Night Fury".  But I miss those days of being holed up in a small conference room and wrapping our minds around such an epic story, and I'm really grateful to Jeff for being included in those meetings.
This was the first confrontation between Tooth and Jack when he discovers the power of the teeth she collects:

And this was another confrontation, only this time North is upset that Jack has allowed Pitch to escape:
